Jill Amadei is a New York City born and based botanical artist who is inspired by the magic and beauty of nature. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology with degrees in Accessories Design and Visual Arts Management, she began her career in the art world working for galleries and sourcing antiques throughout Europe. Ultimately, she returned to her original passion for creating art.
Amadei draws from life, working in a layered technique using colored pencils, watercolor and embossing tools to create highly-detailed studies of natural subjects. She is particularly drawn to the intricate patterns and textures that can be found throughout the natural world in subjects such as sea urchins, coral, starfish, seashells, citrus fruits, flowers, pumpkins, gourds, and autumn leaves.
In 2023 her work was featured in a solo exhibit at the Staten Island Museum entitled Inspired by Nature. The exhibit highlighted several of her shell artworks displayed amongst specimens from the museum’s natural science collection.
